Isn't this just contract negotiations?
Eventually, no. But right now, yes. The first product offered by V4 Final is an automated tool to measure and improve the commercial contract review process, with focus on sales contracts. We started here because contract review is a necessary function of every in-house legal teams. Despite the availability of a large number of contract lifecycle management (CLM) tools dedicated to processing contracts, legal teams still struggle to show the value of their review efforts. In part this is due to the number of variables in any given negotiation and the lack of tools designed to measure such a complex and variable process. Without demonstrating value - even in a process as critical to the business as revenue generation - in-house legal can still be seen as a mere cost center and not a valued business partner.
Can contract review be easier and prove value?
Absolutely! Legal tech for contract review has historically been built around the idea that there is a "perfect" or "standard" clause applicable to all businesses or capable of addressing legal risks in every jurisdiction. These are tools designed for risk-adverse litigation specialists, outside counsel with business models based on hourly rates, and existing e-discovery technology that could be pivoted to a new revenue model. They were never designed for in-house counsel.

V4 Final provides a platform designed specifically to get in-house counsel the necessary product information, business prioritization, risk profiles, and practical information they need in order to be efficient and effective in a contract negotiation. By focusing on the business needs, we help great lawyers prove they are also great partners.
Platform Roadmap
The V4 Final platform is not limited to just contract reviews (but, ya gotta start somewhere!). The SaaS-based, AI-enabled platform is capable of all types of legal reviews: sales contract (of course), but also procurement contracts, RFP reviews, marketing content review, product & regulatory advising, and much more. The platform provides request intake, automated prioritization and complexity scoring (to help manage assigned resources), AI-powered summaries of business goals, priorities, impacts, and even unintended consequences. Automated stakeholder review and input processes are included and linked to specific contexts for easy location and deal-specific knowledge management. Full transparency of deal progress and timelines are available to requesting and executive teams, all while ensuring ultimate control of legal advice lies with and is supervised by legal professionals.

Built for Trust
Built by lawyers and technologists with backgrounds in law, cybersecurity, data protection, privacy, and digital regulatory compliance, V4 Final solutions are designed from the ground up to protect the confidential and privileged information in-house legal teams need to be effective at their jobs. Role-based access control, need-to-know information restrictions, and evidence-based compliance controls are table stakes for product development and deployment. Deployment models are available for customer with in-house LLMs, as well as those who make use of public LLMs, to ensure customer-required security and compliance boundaries can be respected in deployment.
We're a different type of startup. Secure and responsible use of AI, respect for secure development, deployment, and support, and compliance with global requirements for transparency and accountability are in our DNA. We know how hard they can be to "bolt on" later, so we're designing and delivering with full knowledge of the trust you will need to put into a solution with access to sensitive business and legal information.
In-House Practice Is Different.
We know that in-house practice is different. Issue spotting, in-depth mem writing, and academic analysis neither drives business forward nor demonstrates the value of a good legal team. In-house counsel would not have been hired if they were not already skilled and capable, and rules of conduct around the world require licensed legal professionals to maintain their competence as advisors. Spending time and effort merely proving that competence is a luxury not afforded to a busy in-house team.

That's what makes V4 Final different: built by in-house, for in-house. Let us help you be better business partners and bring the receipts to show it.
